The Los Angeles
Area Council recently made filing a Tour and Activity Plan a little
bit easier. Effective immediately: Tour Plans are no longer
required for all outings outside the normal meeting place provided
that the activities are within the Los Angeles Area Council
boundaries. Under the new policy (the same as the National BSA
policy), Tour and Activity Plans are required, but not limited for
the following outings:
* Trips of 500 miles or more; or
* Trips outside of council borders (exception: not to council-owned
properties Firestone Scout Reservation, Log Cabin Wilderness
or Forest Lawn Scout Reservation); or
* Trips to any National High-Adventure base, National Scout
Jamboree, National Order of the Arrow Conference, the Summit Bechtel
* * Reserve, or a regionally sponsored event; or
* When planning Eagle Projects; or
* When conducting any of the following activities outside of council
or district events:
* Aquatics activities (swimming, boating, floating, scuba, etc.)
* Climbing and rappelling
* Orientation flights (process flying plan)
* Shooting sports
* Any activities involving motorized vehicles as part of the program
(snowmobiles, boating, etc.)
In keeping with the “Keep it Simple” approach, volunteers are
strongly encouraged to file online. The Council will continue to
accept walk-ins, scanned and faxed copies and Tour Plans reviewed at
district roundtables and the Cabrillo Youth Camp Center. To file
online, registered volunteers must open a MyScouting.org account at
http://www.MyScouting.org/ by keying-in their Membership ID
Number. If you have lost or have not received your Membership ID
Card please contact Council Registrar, Estela Chicas at (213)
413-4400 Ext 346.
